Bought it in December 2004 for $600, took it home on xmas day and started work on it. What began as a quick fix up to get registered turned into about 18 months restoring and is now registered and still plenty of work to be done.

Info about it:
1975 Toyota Landcruiser FJ55, 2F 4.2 litre petrol on dual fuel, 4 speed manual -----?, Pretty much standard everything mechanically.
Non standard: It now has a UHF, my homemade bumper/bullbar, 150W spotties, a few checkerplate interior panels, homemade battery tray, mudflaps, checkerplate sills to hide rust behind, thats about it.

Sorry about picture quality on some pics.

I've followed this build up since you PM'ed me about some 55 series parts over a year ago from a parts rig i bought. very schmick build and amazing how much work has gone into it. i'm no body guy (as my rig can attest) but i really do have alot of respect for what you've done with the old iron pig. yours (and my parts rig) made me seriously consider getting one... but my 40 drinks enough to keep that a dream

but there must be something wrong with your gearbox if it's a h55F and you only have 4 forward gears... the h55f is the 5 speed :P found in pre 1991 "real" (heavy duty) cruisers

4 speed manual H55F,

and is it disk brake or drum brake front end on it?

Ohwell, maybe i've got my facts wrong about the gearbox, i'll have to take a look see. It has drum brakes all around ;)

discs are an easy swap, saves the crud in your brakes after a mud run.

you'll probably find it's a h41 ;) with single piece transfer case

Ah yes the deni girls, i remember that part of it kinda well which is a good thing, even though i was out of it already ;D but there are other parts that i don't remember at all LOL (like about 5 hours of that day)

Thanks troopy93,
i'd like to do something about the overhang, i won't cut it shorter, but sometime down the track i'll lift it a few inches which should help a little. Also i took off the towbar soon after i bought it which gave me a bit more clearance, but i just put that back on today cos i need a recovery point on the back.

I painted my rims matt black yesterday arvo, they look pretty good now compared to what they were 8)

Bushboy,

Great Job. Looks Great!

I'm really impressed to see i'm not the only Australian still actually using the FJ55. I got the MTZ's on....eventually. I've also put it in the shed now aswell. I thought my mods might take to long to be a thread. If you ever drop into Brisbane you should contact me and My Brother Inlaw and I'll show you some tracks in the area. It'd be great to compare rigs....
PM me or Lugh if you expect to be in the brisbane area
