G'day mate,

I got a '03 V6 hilux - just a few questions for ya if I may;

How do you find the 32" MTR's ?
Is your rig fitted with a 2" lift(I asssume it is with those tyres)?

What sort of fuel economy do you get?
How far can yopu go with the 115litre tank?

Manual or auto?

Have you changed diff ratios?

Thanks mate,

Max.

yep, the 32s are great, they fill the guards perfectly. But I wouldnt go 32s again, because they rub on the sway bar on lock and rub the front inner guard plastic. The only way to fix it is a body lift which Im thinking seriously about because I really like the 32s, if I dont do the body lift I will go back to 31 x 10.5 x 15 again.

How do I rate the MTRs, very highly on the road, very grippy on the wet, as for mud, it is the dry season up here at the moment, all the roads are dust. On dirt, good.

The suspension lift is approx 40mm, OME Dakar kit.

It is a manual.

No, I havent changed diff centres, the running gear is all standard toyota. According to my GPS, at 100km, Im doing 109km on the GPS.

As for the tank, Im getting approx 650km out of it on the stuart hwy doing about 100-110kph.

Hey mate how do you find the 32s on a 7" rim my mate has done it also and to me it feels really wobbly?

02-SR5
30-07-2006, 06:58 PM
They tyres are good on the standard rim, I didnt know they were only 7inches, I always thought they were 8inch, thanks for the info. I really want some of those American racing type rims, the deep dish type, but up here in darwin, if it doesnt come of the shelf, the dealers dont want to know about, to hard aparently.

I will be going back to 31x10.5x15 when the 32s where out.

whats the sub sound like maaaan?

02-SR5
11-08-2006, 10:29 PM
Good, it doesnt shake the car, but it is a nice rear fill for lack of decent rear speakers. If the back wasnt there, 6x9s or to 10 inch subs would kick, but due to lack of space, the 6inch does the job nicely.

Yep, thats right, now a MoMo champion Steering wheel has been ordered through Autotek, will be here tomorrow. Now the De-lux has bling, bling.

Dont order over the net. The website, www.autotek.com.au shows the wheel for about $340 and a boss for $110. I got the wheel for $220 and the boss for $65, ask for Paul from autotek, or email Paul@autotek.com.au. Or if you want to phone him, look up the website, he is located at the tullamarine (spelling) branch in Melbourne, near the airport.

If you change your rims to a set with extra offset you will no longer have problems with inner guard or sway bar rub anymore. I definately wouldn't go down in tyre size !!!

Yep thats why I changed mine to cruiser offset. But if you dont want to change rims then I would go back to 31s on a 7" rim.

Yea, Im putting a baby seat in the back, it has built in speakers in with a pocket for a CD/Ipod player in it so the dirt magnet can listen to the wriggles/high 5 without me haveing to listen to that shit. but apart from another switch for the front locker at a later date, the interior is prettymuch finished.

Fitted the steering wheel today, took a total of 10mins. I cant beleive how easy the standard Toyota wheel came off. If anybody wants a steering wheel, you cant go past Autotek. I live in Darwin, I ordered it yesterday, I got it 1100am this morning. The MOMO boss kit is of a much higher standard as the SAAS boss kits. All up for wheel and boss kit was $260 delivered to Darwin for a genuine MOMO leather steering wheel and boss kit. Also got keyring, and one of those ID/Pittpass wallets that you hang around your neck.

brooksy,

you told rob to get cruiser offset so his 32" MTR's wont rub with the 7" rims, correct?

Did you mean cruiser offset on with the 15x7" rim ro another size?

and if the wheel is offset and sticking out a further 1", wont it then rub on the rear of the front guard, just infront of the mudflap?

Correct me if Im wrong but im just chasing some advice as I'd like to get 15x7's with 32 MTR's aswell next.

32x11.5 are illegal on a 7" rim. I run 33x12.5 on a 15x8 with cruiser offset and yes they rub at the rear of the guards. Two of my mates run 32s and dont have problems. I ran 33s at standard offset and the tyre caught on the idler arm resulting in a bent arm and a smashed cv.

Had to off load the 32s today, couldnt get the car insured. Got info on getting different rims, but it was recommend not to exceed the 7inch rims due to rubbing.

The new tyres I got were the new Goodyear Wranger A/T "Silent-guard" 31 x 10.5 x 15, what ever that means, apparently they have a Kevlar reinforced sidewalls, got 4 fitted for 900 dollars. So if anybody wants a set of 32inch MTRs that live in Darwin, give me a call.

Hey Rob, She looks pretty sweet! Any more pics? Is that a side awning i spot on the racks? I was thinking of putting one on myself. Have you used it much? Is it worth it?
650 k's from 115ltrs thats some serious drinking. I have similar accesories to you and my TD would return 920k's with the same tank. Any engine mods? An exhaust, extractors etc woud greatly improve those fuel figures. And on't forget the added grunt!

02-SR5
02-09-2006, 09:33 PM
Yep, it is an awning, it 2.5w x 1.5L. Got if from www.oz4x4.com.au. Paid about 400 bucks. How do you go with the 32s rubbing

What sort of photos do you want to see

So you do have an exhaust. I can read. Tyres only rub on full lock with a bit of compression on the spring. Not too bad. Doesn't scrub very often.
Some pics of it getting used and abused? Maybe the tray setup?

02-SR5
06-09-2006, 09:20 PM
Photos not a problem, I can get photos when I go to Kakadu next month. What sort of abuse photos do you want. there is no mud or water up here at the moment due to being the dry season.

If I get the weekend off, I will post some photos of the rear tub (roller drawers, battery, aircompressor, inside of drawers) as well some wanker poser flex shots, stay tuned for the weekend.

Couldnt get the wheels, couldnt get a straight story out of anybody up here, they all reckon the -30 offset wouldnt be a problem, but the boys at FOURBYS said they wouldnt fit. Because nobody in Darwin keeps them on the shelf, I couldnt try any on.

I also off loaded the 31inch Silent Armour tyres, they wouldnt balance, so I swaped them for another set of 31inch MTR's.

Ive thought about the snake racing kit for a lift to fit bigger tyres, but because I do a lot of hwy driving on the Stuart Highway, (no spead limit), I dont think a big lift would be safe, so it is a 40mm lift and 31inch tyres for me.

Do ya reckon a 40mm lift, front and rear ARB lockers, 31inch MTR's would be good enough for touring and offroading????

Synergy
30-09-2006, 11:40 PM
arent there any tyres places local to ya?

02-SR5
01-10-2006, 10:18 AM
Yea, there is, but none that stock any MT classic IIs, all the wheel places up here keep minimum stock except steel wheels, so it is a very limited range up here. You can get any wheel you want, as long as your willing to wait, pay up front in full, and hope they fit when they get here. There are only two places that stock M/T wheel, the TJM store and a Dunlop Store, but they dont keep any on the shelf to try on.

Synergy
01-10-2006, 12:21 PM
that must be a pain for ya man!

I bought some 33's wranglers and MT II's clasics, should get them next week.

My dad has basically the same car as u cep its a 04 and his getting a bodylift n 33's soon. he wants his plasma screen 1st tho lol.

A 2" body and 2" suspension is perfect for a lux, get the suspension done, any higher u'd proly feel unsafe cos of ur highway driving
