WTF is going on with Tuff Truck, I heard it's for sale and they found a buyer now the people that were going to buy it have pulled out of the deal, Is it going to die a slow death or will someone save it.
How about a bit of info from one of the sponsors.
There are people out there that have payed spectator entry already, will they get there money back or have they allready got it back?

NFI, it was postponed last year due to Issues beyond there control so who knows. lets hope they get it sorted out as a lot of people have also spent big money preparing trucks for it.

Gossip I heard was that the Suzi club had bought it!

If this is true, who accepts responsibility for pre-pays?

I would imagine that monies paid to the entity "Tuff Truck promotions" would be refunded in the event of total cancellation.

things are still being nutted out. No-one is at liberty to discuss further.

25-02-2004, 04:16 PM
reading between the lines there, it seems someone is in the throws of taking it on, but not signed sealed or delivered yet, and if it were cancelled monies would be refunded.

And neither side is admtting its gone, or been taken on by them because things arent 100% hunky dory with the set up of handover right now.

P.S, I dont believe we have a thread BT hasnt posted in yet.... :P

Reply from the people organising re TUFF TRUCK.

Darren,

The new TuffTruck management is currently in the process of taking over the Tuff Truck event. I am dissapointed to advise that it cannot be run this year. We are already working hard towards TuffTruck Challenge 2005 the dates and details for which are still to be announced.

Best Regards
Det

better than nothing i suppose. who are they taking it over from . 4WD Monthly or who. i would have thought if 4WD owned it they would have kept it running for promo stuff and outlet to get everybody involved and to push the mag.

patrol
27-03-2004, 03:49 PM
The comp was owned by Tuff Truck Promotions, it was started by the All Terrain 4wd Club, 4wd monthly are sponsors.

28-03-2004, 10:25 AM
I see the mag now sponsoring the extreme winch challenge, naming rights too it looks from the ad?

Hey Patrol were they having financial problems covering insurance etc. or did they just get an offer to sell it. it wouldn't be cheap trying to run a show like that.

As far as i am aware this has been the case for the past couple of years. I know that the Xtreme Rock Crawling Callenge has been sponsored by 4WD Monthly from its concept last year.

Without a doubt it has been caned for this year but all things going well it will be on next year. But we also have heard this a few times before.
Hopefully this time something goes right and we can all enjoy getting together for the biggest offroad event in Aus.

Im hopeing to compete at the next one but if i dont i will still have a great time as a spectator.

Well let's hope that Tuff Truck hasn't been canned all together as this year I was making the pilgramige from WA over to the East solely for the purpose of seeing the Tuff Truck. Hope these dreams are not going to come to an end all together.

Announcement has been made ;D

http://www.tufftruck.com.au/images/TTLogo.jpg

The premier event in the offroad 4WD calendar is back with a vengeance next year.

Designed from the outset as the toughest offroad event in the country, suitable only for the most modified offroad competition vehicles, Tuff Truck returns bigger and better than ever. A new management team includes both offroad competitors and professional event managers, allied to bring both excitement and professionalism to the sport.

The Event Director, Ron Wilson, ran a superb Nissan Trials two years ago, and is well-versed in co-ordinating events of this size. While the event is being run professionally, all the organising team are members of one or more 4WD clubs, and the club fraternity is still very much a part of the organisation and staging of the event.

As in previous years, competitors are voted into the event by the general public - setting up rivalries between clubs and competitors which are later played out on the stages of the course - the best driver/truck combination being crowned as the winner of the toughest offroad event on the calendar.

Information about the running of the April 2005 event can be found on the Tuff Truck website http://tufftruck.com.au including entry fees, nomination procedures, rules & regulations and spectator entry packages.

Spectators are encouraged to camp on-site and purchase pre-paid meal packages - to save on the washing up - with superb catering again provided by the local Bulga Community Association.

A fabulous event in the past, 2005 looks like it’s hotting up to outdo previous years, with organisers predicting spectators will flock to catch the action, thrills and spills in this premium offroad event.

My guestimate is that it the weekend after...

I haven't got a calendar for next year anywhere. So we'll have to wait until the next issue of 4WD Monthly so we can check it properly on our free 4WD Monthly calendar!!

Thanks, only the panel work, paint & interior to go now, hopefully $4000-$5000 should pull it off. My missus has be transfered to the Maroochydore Ken Mills Toyota now, so it'll be parked near your work all the time now.

its interesting that not only 4WD monthly but 4x4 Australia and Overlander will be involved this time, should make for some awesome coverage of the event and potentially huge crowds. So I'd imagine you will want to book a spot as soon as details are released
