Hi Forum, just to let you know, I will be taking my truck down to Robe this weekend, with one confirmed trip companion, and 2 maybes.

I will be heading off from Adelaide around 5am, and we will stop at salt creek for some breakfast, then over tea tree crossing, and up to the granites on the beach.

At Robe, we will head round the back of the rubbish tip, then head down towards Beachport. off at the end of little dip, and back on at Nora Creina, finishing off in Beachport saturday afternoon. Camping will be somewhere in little dip, maybe stoney rise or around the lake. Sunday mornring, we may just repeat the trip for fun, or head on to some of the inland tracks that don't go to the beach.

Anyone welcome to join us, family's especially welcime, as we have 6 kids between us, but love to say hi to any forum members on UHF 28.

Weather should be fine and 20/22...

I was down that way last weekend. Beachport to Robe track was pretty backed up due to 90% of 4WDs were bogged.....take a friend. 8)

Have fun.

Thanks - I was there the weekend before easter to, and I went through as a single vechicle without incident. Still, I probably do around 4 or 5 trips a year to that area, usually Canunda, (which is is more rugged), so am used to plenty of sand driving - and the defender helps - it is magnificent in sand... :-)

In the jeep I used to go through solo trips in the winter in Canunda, and that is the only time I would really get bogged and have to dig.

Spoke to soon ;D

Accroding to locals, last week there has been a massive storm, and the beaches have had an extra half meter of sand dumped on them, which is SOFT...

The old Defender even got bogged right at the end of one very soft section of beach, but I managed to winch myself off the beach with a little help from a Nissan driver who kindly allowed me to hook up the front of his vehicle. I say "winched", as there was a little bit of towing involved at the end! If you are reading this guys - thanks for the tug out.

Two of the other vehicles I was with ( a disco and a D3), had a real hard time of it, and my winch gave up the ghost on the disco.

Thanks to a couple of lads from VIC, on the way down to the murray mouth, who had massive tyres on at 3 psi (I guess they must have been running bead locks - or taking an awful risk), but they pulled the brand new D3 out.

The Pajero we were with, with the benefit of watching how not to do, screamed up the beach at an alarming rate, and proved that momentum will always get you through!

Sunday was spent from Nora Creina down to beachport, and went without hitch, as the beaches were in better condition. But all in all, it was a fantastic trip.

Oh for those that are interested, there is a beached sperm whale (I think), just a couple of Ks up from 42 Mile crossing!

Sure was, and the weather was good to us too. The D3 Driver went fishing on Sunday rather than attempt the beaches again, although the Disco driver is now well and truly hooked, and wants me to take him to the flinders, LOL.
