i still go out shooting at random creatures with the .22
And i spend time inside when its too friggin hot or its too dark to do anything...at the moment im in the middle of an irrigation job and building a fire trailer ;D
my first car is the Deo...and then i completely stuffed it up by fixing an exhaust leak...lost a heap of power then cos it actually had to USE the exhaust pipe instead of venting at the header pipes....then fixed the fast warm up, so it stopped over fueling...
So i dediced to get the screwdriver up and fiddle with the darkness screw....she FLIES now....and makes more smoke than your average steam train ;D

You must be around my age group, as most people I talk to, think I am stretching the truth about buying guns in K-Mart!

Growing up on the farm we had no mains power and a slow combustion stove with the hot water jacket. the lj50 2 stroke was the farm bus and the eh panel van with a second row of seats in it was the family wagon and that was in the 80's. I had a 22 in the ward robe for shooting possums to keep them out of the vegi patch or walking home from the school i would cut across some one elses place to the creek and tickle trout all the way home and have em for tea. My first car was a HQ with the 179 red motor it used to get stuck in 2 gears at once untill i fixed the linkages with some 8 gauge wire. I got a ex army 1980 series 3 landrover as my first 4b when i got my p's saved my licence heaps
I've just turned 34, and my 28 year old girlfriend laughs at the stuff I tell her about the good old days, like when Newcastle had only 2 TV stations.

In the USA they still line up the guns in glass cases in variety stores. In the sports stores you can buy a M14 with laser sights, but just to make sure you are not a maniac you may actually wait 24hours for automatic weapons. Then there are pistols, tasars, mace, butterfly knives and so on :o
funny thing about the Americans, they never associate the horrific gun toll or overt violence they have over there with their lax gun laws ::)
I remember buying a .22 and an air gun from Woolies (I think). The air gun was grouse ;D Used to shoot cats up the arse and terrify the locals (or so I thought). Then there were skinheads, for fun on a Saturday night you could always go ambush the local skinheads, greasers or, damn, what was the other mob called, skinheads and…..?
These days, having a yonny or two in your pocket and a shanghai would have you make the front page of the local newspaper >:( An urban terrorist ;D
Then of course there was the ubiquitous penny-bunger in the letterbox trick, or newspaper full of turds and set on fire on the local madmans doorstep.
...but I never did any of that of course,
....alone anyway ;D. I was a good and proper young man under the close stewardship of my big brother, who is now lost to me :'(

After re-reading this thread, all I can think of is that I have far too much free time ;D.
First Go Kart 1965/6 Dart / Saetta (rotary valve)
First car (1969) MGA 1600mk2 (1962 model) $1050
First Race Car (1971) Honda N600G (600cc's of Cooper type performance) $1800 NEW
First 4by (1974ish) Suzi LJ50 Softtop $3150 NEW
When I look at V8 Supercars & the million dollar budgets, I remember a couple of Public Service clerks who used to win most of the under 1300cc touring car events in Qld in '72 / '73/ ..... in a Cooper S which was funded from PRIZE MONEY!!
(I alco remember an absolute smartarse in a Torana who later became famous for crying, driving a Ford.......) ::)
