Yeah, I have heard the same thing Peter, but I don’t think the state forestry have the funds of the man power to pull off a closure of these tracks. They are two widely used for recreation. Here’s to hoping anyway. :-\

I have a Sat nav day with the club the next day which I am leading, so depending on what stuff I can get thru this weekend with setup etc will de[pend on my availability for the sat trip.
I will also have to leave early that afternoon if I do come along, due to the activities I have the next day.

Mick (Crusher) has just brought to my attention that if we end up with more than 10 4wds it could be a slow day particualy on these tracks. :o To over come this if more than 10 4wds come we will split into 2 groups to get everyone through the tracks quicker. ;)
I originally had a max of 10 4wds on the trip but I would hate to see people miss this trip because it could be one of the last due to track closiers around the watagans. :-\ :'(

Sorry for the confusion, the other car is in aswell. It's actually my brother, both cars always go everywhere and together, it's just an insurance thingy, knowing that if you break something, you still have another car left... but neither of them has ever left us stranded , touch wood.

Damage report as far as I can recall is as follows:-
Humpy- Broken axle on first track Slippery Rock
Bowie- Flat tyre, bent panhard rod, trailing arms, right hand sill
Patute- Punched in driver side rear sill
Hophoar- Ripped rear side bumper bar/flare partly off
Wade- Flare, Rear light, dented bullbar
Crusher- Smashed rear tail light again, (it was broken anyway), bent sidesteps and more dinged sills.
I think the rest got through pretty well unscathed apart from the usual scratches etc. If I have missed any I'm sure someone will let us know

Hi Guys, just got home after camping overnight and finished unloading the car. Unfortunatly, the problem I had with a pin hole in the power steering wasn't able to be fixed with some quicksteel so I wasn't able to go for a play this morning.
It was great to meet up and finally go for a run with you guys as a forum even though I've been on runs with some of you before. I had a great day and got some good pics, mostly of my heap thanks to the missus. I certainly hope to make it to the overnighter thats planned, roster permitting, I'll have to check it out.
Pics will follow as I'm getting old and this new fangled technology makes posting hard, as I never seem to remember how to do it from week to week.

Hey guys,
What an awesome day! Once again the 4wd monthly forum crew put on a fantastic day. Many thanks to John, Mick and Steve for leading and organising an awesome trip.
Shame I had to leave before going up Whitemans which is what I was hanging out to do however I had to get back to Newy early. Hopefully will get a run at it before it may be closed off :(
Everyone had great drives as well as a fair slice of carnage mixed in. I came away from the trip relatively unscathed with only losing a rear mudflap, couple of dents and scractches in the bull bar as well as shearing off a slider bolt when the shortie decided to come back to earth before hell hill ;D ;D
Well what more can I say except thanks again for a fantastic day and I'm already hanging out for the next one ;D
Cheers

I have been up the Zig Zag a few times but this was the first time I have driven down it. Quite challenging :o and you need to be real careful. I much prefer going up as Beastie said.
The track after that was an extremely steep and rutted hill which only Mick was game enough to do. I thought about it, but it was getting late and I thought it safer to give it a miss.
Mick actually then drove down it, the reduction gears proving to be very handy. He made it look quite easy, but then he has got an extremely capable truck ;). I'd say it would be white knuckles and butt cheeks clenched in mine ;D

Yeah you missed a good day Simon, you and Sean would have enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip about the vids.
Zippy was okay early on when I first started posting vids but the ones from the weekend were crap.
I might have a couple more and I'll put them up using putfile to see how they come out.
And yes that Sawpit track is tough I wasn't real keen on doing it when I first looked at it; and I did come to grief a bit on the second section having to get snatched straight by Patute. I then drove up the rest of the way.
A locker is definitely on the shopping list. Patute has a 4wd systems lokka in his and reckons its great and its obviously the cheaper option but I still like the fact you can switch the airlocker on/off as required

Pah, side gears :P Who needs 'em?
Humpy

Its a bit hard to see in the photo, but 1 or 2 teeth have snapped off each of the centre (welded) gears as well as about 4 off the side gear, so the axle is free to turn
Meaning I strongly suspect it is in far worse condition than anything you are still running :P

Should just throw the gears away and fit a mini spool--- won't break that.
I drove my monaro fitted with a mini spool for a year on the road with many a burnout and it is good as new (even though the car hasn't been driven for 4 years).
Think it cost me about $120 inc. postage and free to fit (by me)
Mick.
