If you want to, we can rope off an area near the vans that have been booked for the campers (in tents or swags). ;D

Same basic hillclimb, but a bit tighter at the bottom.

Cost of entry will be $20 for first event, plus $10 for additional events with a maximum of $60, per driver. No more than two drivers per car. There will be a special deal again this year for Forum members............. ;D ::)

quick question though....I'm going to be new to the scene and wondering If i could compete even though i'm a novice???

and would any mods be advisable??? ie mud tyres ect... im buying an xtreem defender...

(sorry not turning this into a what to buy thread but just wondering what i'm going to be in for)

anyone have pics of past events or a link or 2???

Here is some links Chris (BLU125) posted earlier in the thread.

You will be fine to compete even if you are a novice...but take it easy on the corners....

Decent tyres would be of some advantage, but overall, a stock standard vehicle could still do well.

Twisty
15-03-2006, 09:57 PM
The corners that are in a couple of events....I reckon thats the best chance of damaging your vehicle (rollover). I don't go in events with corners cause I don't trust myself to slow down enough.....(As old mate in the GU wagon from the slalom event would know) :-[

BLU-125
17-03-2006, 09:28 PM
The slalom is being replaced by a "stop/start" driving test event, to suit stock vehicles on "standard" tyres. ;D

BLU-125
02-04-2006, 04:07 PM
As we are on the Qld / NSW border, it has always been for those states, but happy to include South Australian, Victorian, West Australian teams, as well as teams from either teritory. ;D

Just tell me what colour T Shirts you want. (All competitors get a maroon or blue shirt.)

This event is now the "Cooper Tyres 4x4 Battle of the States"

AND EVERY COMPETITORS NAME GOES INTO A DRAW FOR A SET OF COOPER TYRES
(Value $1000.00)

The willingness of Coolibah Campers, Cooper Tyres and others that you will hear about in the weeks to come to support our event is quite humbling...... :-[

The reason they want to help is that they know we just want to have FUN, with our family and friends.......not destroy trucks......

Twisty
13-04-2006, 09:06 PM
Hey Chris,

Can I make a suggestion for the Mud Drags....I think I mentioned it to you last year around the campfire, but I thought I'd bring it up again....

Since the start of the mud drugs is uphill, it's hard to get a good start while trying to juggle the handbrake/clutch/accelerator to stop rolling back, and then take off. (You can't just hold it on redline and wait for the green to dumb the clutch).

They had a similar problem at the hill drags at LCMP on the Expo weekend and fixed it by a piece of sqaure timber post......once you've staged you truck, the guy at the start lights puts the post behind your rear tyre to prevent you rolling back....this makes it heaps easier to get a good start when the lights go green!!!

Do you think this could be organised for this years event??

It'd probably be easier in other 4x4's that have the handbrake where it should be, but trying to use the umbrella style under the dash handbrake in the 4runner for a drag style take off is pretty bloody annoying....

Plenty of places to walk......if that's what u want to do ::) ;)
BYO wine, drinking occurs every evening :)
I'd leave the bikes at home, too many rocks/hills.
Camp fires are allowed 8)

How about the weather? half the stuff in the ute got soaked on the 7hour drive in the rain on the way up including my bag of clothes, the spare doona and the tent, broke 2 tent poles in the wind, set my girlfriends new $50 chair on fire when it got blown into the fire, hurt my back while moving the tent to a less windy location, hurt my knee from bending them all the time because of my hurt back, bought a new gas bottle which didn't fit my light/stove so cooked all meals in the fire.

but amazingly still had a blast. the work ute's not cut out for the hard tracks I realise now. I kept thinking how to explain the possibly damaged doors/sills/ etc.

So now I'm thinking about using my tax check to prep a cheap suzi. I spoke to a guy up there and we worked out you could do it for about $6,000.
