North Tassie Forum Trip - 18-19 Feb

Hey guys...I have arranged for Cranky and his tribe of merry men to come up north to do some tracks on the weekend of the 18th-19th of Feb, namely Bellingham to Bridport (or Bridport to Bellingham) on the Saturday, and a cruise through some north tracks on the Sunday. My club (Northern Explorers) is having a club trip on that weekend so we might even tack onto that....nothing formal, just a get together, food, beer and fourbies. No doubt the Saturday night will be a drunken affair.

There isnt an official departure point at present, but if you wanna come for a run and meet up let us know and we'll fill you in on the details when they come to hand.

if this was 2007 id be there! if you tassie guys feel up to it, work a trip out next summer (for about a week) and us vic ppl will come down! ;D please :D

not hardcore by any means.....Saturday will be a run along the beach, Sunday is exploring some back tyracks up the back of Pyengana (spelling)...I will be staying at my house....dunno about the rest of ya ;D

Ok fellas (and Ray)...according to the tide info, its low tide in the morning, so we'll head in from the Bellingham end so we can make it across the river. We will be meeting up at the Inveresk rail yards car park, on Saturday morning (18th), aiming for a 9am departure (hopefully, if I can get of bed). For those that dont wanna come to Launceston to meet, just let us know where you'll be and we'll meet you on the way. Nothing is really planned, just gonna hit the beach and play in the dunes, maybe a BBQ at the buggy camp etc. We might plan something back in Launceston for Saturday night, whether it be hitting the town or wandering back to my house for a few quiet ones (well thats what i'll tell the wife ;D)
If the weather is crud we might head inland and explore the north east, theres a few good tracks we could tie together to make a day of it.

The club has organised a Sunday trip up Pyengana (still cant spell it), pub in the paddock sort of area. You're all welcome to come along to that too, but being an official club trip there will be a insurance fee ($5) and a few club rules to follow.

Well things look like they might (just) got to plan

Saturday, meeting up as per above....Sunday, the club has changed from doing Pyengana to doing some local tracks (lefroy, Beechford area)...should (hopefully) be some mud to play in.

Meeting at the inveresk railyards on Saturday morning at 9am and heading toward Bellingham down the east tamar highway. Might (time permitting) do a few little tracks around Curries dam on the way home. I will be taking a BBQ with me and we'll stop at the buggy camp for lunch. (Buggy camp is the camping area on the eastern end of St Albans Bay, near the big dunes)

Saturday night we will have a BBQ at my house at Youngtown for anyone who wants to come...except you Philby...you stay away ;D ;D

Sunday is an official club trip with the Northern Explorers. Not 100% sure of the departure time, but we will be meeting at the railyards again. Trip insurance is $5 for non members.

Anyone who doesnt know where the railyards are let me know and i'll pm u a map.

Club members pay $2 per trip, and visitors pay $5.

I dont suppose you would have to, but I will find out for sure tomorrow...or today, seing as its nearly 1am

Bugger, Bellingham to Bridport is my No. 1 playground. And i'm at work all weekend. You wont need to worry about the river too much, i was out there a few weeks ago bream fishing and there isnt much water in it at the moment, and unless it pisses down with rain, even high tide isnt a problem. Best beach in Tassie if you ask me.

Just to finalise, we are leaving the inveresk rail yards at 9am, travelling down the east tamar highway we will hopefully be going past the batman bridge turn off around 0930, should arrive at the bellingham turnoff around 10am. UHF channel will be 27 for those in convoy. Steve (uted) it might pay for u to meet us on the highway at the bellingham turnoff. BBQ plate and gas bottle will be taken, so bring ur BBQ stuff...any probs let me now between now and then.

8)all i can say is hell yeah. I had an awsome day yesterday. Weather was great, people were great, lunch was great.
I had a ball playing in the dunes, hadn't really done that before. Cranky and nissan23s aerial antics were fantastic.
thanx to diehard and all involved for a brilliant day
