So who here is keen to put their money where their mouth is? I am organising a trip to Appin on the 26th Jan ---- Yes thats right--- its Australia Day. So who is keen to come for a wheel in my territory? Lets see a show of hands. Its a C to B grade trip with a couple of A sections available. Most if not all tracks have chicken tracks around which are D to C grade. Look forward to hearin from ya all. No number limits as all that will happen is we will do what tracks we can and when it gets L8, we can just pull out. Time of meetup is 9 AM at the Appin Hotel located on the corner of Appin Road and Market Street Appin. Close off Date for Trip?????? January 26th. PM me if any further info is required.

Nem is a maybe he said he has to work out work situation etc. Frank should be able to answer your question better Trent, although in my experience with forum trips with Frank a t-d Prado shouldn't have any dramas. Like he said there's c and d-grade bypass tracks for the hard stuff, usually only one or two people will go the a-grade sections

Muddy's definitely help, but I have been out there a few times in standard Yota's. Some tracks there will definitely be a bit of scraping going on under neath ;)

Well it is possible but u will sustain some sought of damage due to the difficult terrain, but with some persistence anything is possible i suppose, plus depends on which line u take . Its upto u in the end if u want to come. I have said there r c grade tracks around the harder parts so all should be well. We got a Stock ifs 4runner through there with just a little winching and a snatch or 2, but in the end, it wasnt bad, and i dont think he sustained any major damage, just a couple of scratches from memory.

If u decide u wanna come u will be more than welcome, as is everybody else who is thinking bout it. For those who cant make it, hope we can do it another time.

U will find yours should split and u will be able to feed the gel into it. 4 bolts through the fan and 4 that hold the coupling together. 10 mm socket and wrench is all u need and maybe a screwdriver to split the two mating surfaces. U can get the gel from Toyota for 10 bucks. Its a 18 mm tube and does wonders. Cheaper than a new viscous coupling which is not that strong anyway

Thats what I thought to but mines different to other GQs.I don't know wheather its different because its a high roof or an auto? My fan wont even bolt up to a GQ viscous coupling. ::) I've got a collection of viscous couplings from work and i'm hoping I can make one of these fit. If that doesn't work I guess i'm gonna have to get a genuine one or find a way of locking the one i've got up some how. I might even see if I can get a viscous coupling from the wreckers with a fan and do as you said and buy some gel from toyota and put some of that in and bolt that in. I pull it out this weekend and try and work something out. :P

Wouldn't mind joining you guy's if there is room live in Campbelltown but never been to appin.
I drive an 84 4runner, 2.8 diesel, twin lockers, 2 inch suspension lift, 2 inch body lift so i'm pretty sure the fourby is capable just not sure about the driver yet.

i may have to leave a bit earlier than all the others tho... about 1.30-2.00pm

The more the Merrier John. I dont have any issues with numbers of vehicles coz like i said b4, we will just cater to the day with the amount of trucks and style of trucks coming. Look forward to u coming along and meeting u. Truck is more than whats required for Appin. As for the driver, well thats just experience, so wouldnt worry bout that too much. Just bring ya happy face and ya truck and look forward to a gr8 day out close to home. Look forward to meeting u. Leaving time wont be an issue as we can be close to the main road by that time anyway, so all u gotta do is drive out. ;)

Its a late start but i had to make sure i could clear the schedule for it before saying i was in too.

4130warrior im coming from the Eastern Suburbs so if your going by somewhere i wouldn't mind tagging along with you? I havent been out there before so it might make it a bit easier for my navigator, (me).

Yeah no probs Ben. Cant see it being a problem takin the dog along as long as ya dont let him loose coz i think ppl may bring families and wouldnt wont ya dog to get lost either. I think u will find That 4130Warrior will be coming from the west so gonna make it a bit hard for him to get over there. Where bouts u coming from? If u come down the M5 and get off at the Narellan exit ( Narellan Road) and turn left towards Campbelltown, head down to Campbelltown road ( 4th set of lights) and turn right. U will follow that road for some 15 to 20 minutes into the Township of Appin. U will see 1 set of traffic lights in Appin and thats where u turn left and u will see us on the left opposite the Hotel.

Thanx guys and girls. Was an awesome day and thanx for ya patience in my first organised trip. Did what i expected to do and got out at the time i had hoped for. great day frank, good navigation, i had a ball even with a faulty hub which was fix with many thanks going to bundy lux, and i also have newfound respect for pajeros and rodeos-good work nig and mick.nice relaxed day with everyone going at there own pace and plenty of room for the 17 cars

Slightly better explanation of busted 100s 80.

He would plant the boot to drive a step, and it would slowly gather speed. once it got to the steep part of the step it would sit on around 1500rpm and the wheels would stop turning

we kept telling him to get into it, and he kept sayin he was

We checked if it was in low range by comparing it to high range. In high, it couldnt move up a 10degree slope

sounds like he had a bad blockage in the fuel, probably from the steep angles and maybe even some air in the system

That 80 is so good lookin hehe. My dad's TD auto 80 does the same thing -- it doesnt seem to be putting all it's power down under load. It also cuts out on hills -- like a carby starving on a hillclimb. Does anyone know what it is?

Yes we made it home semi safely as the car was very hairy scary to drive... the tailshaft is replaced... has no left cvjoint or axle at the moment as the drive home machined and burred the end of the axle and the cv joint i have here is the short axle side

Round the back of Appin there are some tracks. Keep ya eyes posted in the next couple months i will make a modded truck trip where we will do some serious tracks where damage is emminent and no responsibility will be taken hence the call for modded trucks. If u have a std truck, i strongly suggest u dont join in but u will be more than welcome to tag along.

After the official trip was over busted100, wazza, their mates, ben & I went and drove <Big Bastard> (http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/albums/album571/AppinBigBastard.wmv) The reason you dont see busted100's 80 make this climb is because I had to put down the camera and help push his junk up the hill :P

We also did bonnet hill, but my battery went flat and I had bugger all memory card left anyway, so no vids of that :(

Beige 80 is my mate Peter (SOFTY) he's not on the forum as of yet but will be on soon as SOFT80 or something similar. As for my ride with no power that will be rectified on Tuesday hopefully. (3" exhuast, adjust pump, look for blockage and then on dyno etc) ???

Yeah it was a great day out.

I been away for the weekend so this is my first chance to have a look at the fotos.

And also a big thanks goes out to Frank, Ford Mav, for organising the day.

Also to all the other fellas who led us through the harder section in the afternoon. Much apreciated for taking me along.
