I need to know of some tracks to 4x4 on in SE/QLD!! Needing some variety, not the same old same old. Not particularly interested in the extreme stuff, rather little bit easier track to a nice location.

You possibly already know about this one but the 7 mile diggings trip at Nanango (in the Dirty Weekends in SEQ guide) is not bad. A bit of something for everyone, as easy or as hard as you want it to be.

You can also try www.greatsoutheast.com.au. Click on the search button and down the bottom is has "choose a topic". Click on 4WD and this will bring up tracks as well as tips and reviews.

Hope this helps

Border Ranges is easy/scenic, some books tell of the track to Lindesay View on the western side of the Ranges... this track has been closed for a long time now so don't go there.... the rest of the Park is very scenic.... views from the Pinnacle Lookout and Blackbutts Lookout are worthwhile

Clubs usually have trips of different ratings.. the club we belong to have several trips a month... some easy... some not-so-easy....

Black duck creek about 1 hr drive west of Brisbane is a 4wd and dirt bike riding park. I think there are some easier 4wd bits and some hard stuff if you wanted to go were the bikes go. You have to pay to use it but they have showers and camping there.

I have been to a few in and around the place. I have to agree with Double Island and Noosa North Shore and what is better you can camp at Inskip Point.

Also try Charlie Morland Park at Kenilworth, there are some really great tracks up through there (you have to be registered with DNR though) there are basic, moderate and extreme tracks up in there and it is also a great camping place.

How do you get to this place? It isn't far from here and seeing that I will be buying a 4wd soon I need some places to test it :-)

Though probably not technically classed south east qld, there are some nice little tracks and National Parks around the Bundy/Wide Bay area, namely Kinkuna np, Deepwater np and the many forestry tracks in the area, Also goodnight scrub is an interesting drive, while it's not exactly fourby country(though low range is recomended to get up the steep lookout track) it is a very pleasant area.

Mt Mee state forest is a bit of fun. There are a couple of low-range tracks, but the majority of it is easy going. You need a permit to enter though. Dirty Weekends has a route through it.

Landcruiser Park and Blackduck Valley aren't too far away and offer a variety of tracks depending on skill level. They are also a great place to meet other people who can share tips/tracks with you.

some good forestry tracks around gatton and toowoomba that take you to some nice look outs and creeks.
black duck can get a bit rocky but it's still a pretty good place but LMP is definatley up there with the best. especially after some good rain when all the creeks are flowing.

head north through gympie to bells bridge about ten k's north . turn left and head through kilkivan, goomeri to nanango. just as your heading out of nanango turn left at the bp servo. about 500m there is a left turn, keep going the road will swing around to the right then about seven miles out there is the start of it.

or go south through beerwah to kilkoy, moore then blackbutt. turn right at the anzac monument then keep going straight. this is bowman road, past the golf club and the road will swing to the right. about another 500m to the left if franks road, take it. hit the t intersection and turn left onto old esk road keep going straight about 6 or 7 k's i guess and you'll see an old sign saying old coach road. there will be a gate with a sign saying road closed at this end.

if you let me know when your going i may be able to come if you want some company

I have heard that Black Duck has been closed to 4wding...? I understand that they are still allowing dirt bikes, but no fourbys??

Can anyone confirm that?

I'm sure Black Duck Valley is still open to 4wders, they've just bought another property and are expanding at the moment.

Perhaps you mean Emu Creek ? They closed down a while ago 3 years ago.

There's another one called Landcruiser Mountain Park at Jimna near Kilcoy. 2.5 hours from Brisbane west.

Driving from Brisie to gold coast take the Ormeau off ramp and head across the bridge over the highway (Peachy rd I think) go past the shops on the right at Venor Drive turn left (if you go past the quary you've gone too far). Follow that up to the water tower. The track in front of you will take you into the northern end of the area. The southern enterance is a bit more tricky as it is a cutting on the right driving up Kingsholme rd.
Great place for fun
