Seeing as we have a lot of people wanting to go and do a run out at Beerburrum/ Glasshouse, I thought it might be good to orginise one for early next year around March / April when the weather is not too hot or cold.
We could get everyone camping at Coochin creek so we can make a racket, drink and hide Rodney's milk crate again. We would then be able to hit the tracks as they are not that far away.
Everyone will have to orginise their own permits, and I could e-mail application forms to those that wish.
Post your thoughts here and possible dates and we can get the ball rolling.
NO LONGER ABLE TO LEAD THIS TRIP

If johnno/Rodney is going to be there, I'm in for sure, might have to bring an adult diaper as I nearly pissed myself at LCMP ;D ;D

It would be nice to see some tracks up here :D

Which permits are you talking about Twisty camping or permit for the tracks?
I'm guessing with 3 foot high steps the tracks are classed as extreme or RED as in LCMP maps?
Brian
If im not from QLD can I still come ? (Just out of interest)

Yeah, sure can, you'll just have to camp down the track a bit, display a warning sign stating "I am NOT a Queenslander".......and bring your own milk crate ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You need permits to be inside the National Parks (or forestry) which ever its called. I'm not sure how the camping works, Mudlux would have to answer that.
April 1st/2nd would be good for me.....8/9th is getting too close to the Expo weekend at LCMP.

With the camping at Coochin you turn up and pay the ranger similar to Double Island. I also have the application for the 4wd permit for those who are interested. Its free and you just have to renew it with your rego ;)

I will e-mail forestry application forms to those that wish, I'ts free for these permits you just need to complete the application form and send it in.
Camping at Coochin creek is $ 4.50 per person per night, self register and pay at the hut on arrival. [ kids cheeper]
I will post directions and other info closer to the date which we will make 1-2nd April as this will not clash or be too close to any events.
I've marked this date on the calender and told the Mrs not to book anything for that w'end ;) So now we can start counting down ???
Seems fitting that I get to pass on the "Busted Arse Award" on the April fools day w'end ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'd love to go, but I should be doing the Simpson trip then.
That means you will have to find another game to play as I will take my crate with me to get up into the back of the truck. ;D ;D ;D ;D

a bit off topic but maybe handy...I camped at Inskip a couple of weeks ago and as usual waited to get permit from the Ranger, he reckons by end of November they will have an ATM style machine at NPWS office on the way in you can get permits at, or have toll free number and website. He reckons fines will be given out after this for not getting a permit before camping. Heard these threats for years, but thought'd i'd give a heads up, this time it might actually happen.

Theres only 18 sites at that campground(im sure we can fit 20odd forbys in there) so once the nombers have been established theyll need to be booked out.
Its $8 for one car and 2 people for those that are curious

just a note for the guys going up to coochin creek on the first. was up there last weekend had a ball with my mates but nearly got chased away by the mossies, they were terrible. there were 10 of us and we went through 1 can of rid a day atleast. its a great place though but remember the permits as the rangers are out all the time and we even got pulled up by a forestry guy 5 minutes after leaving the campsite for a quick drive around a few of the "soft" tracks, mine was the only 4wd drive there i didn't feel like walking to get help. NB u do need a camping permit before setting up, there is no self registration there, u need to book online or over the phone before going there
