What has to be in the running for the longest 4WD rebuild project (20+ months and still counting) is actually nearing the end. :D My son's GQ Shortie now has a 5.0 ltr EFI V8 and gearbox, 2" + 3 lift", Front Air Locker, HD suspension, Winch Bar & Winch, Late model Radiator, Truck style Spotties on Bull Bar and 4 x Roof Lights. Wheels & Tyres (currently running slightly larger A/Ts) next modifications, but they will have to wait for a while. Big test next weekend up around the Tolmie, Mansfield area.

Went for a run last Friday night - boy, has it got some poke compared to the departed gas fired 4.2. A couple of things to be sorted - selection of 1st gear (gear stick stops on floor before selection) & rear bumper after the body lift . Other than that - it goes well and runs smoother than ever. After a couple of bad false starts, looks like it might be ready to take to the tracks again - and I get my garage and work shed back at last ;D!

sounds like a sweet machine, would love a bit more information on the engine conversion if you have it...

Also pics! ;D

Sounds like a weapon.

I have asked him for the latest pictues, and then I will work out how to post (have never succedded yet). The replacment Engine/Gearbox/Trfr case conversion was done by Marks in Victoria - he did all the strip down and the replacement installation work himself

So did you work out how to post pics up?

Had a bit of trouble myself....

I also have a gq mav which needs a new motor about 2 weeks ago. See my post maverick8u in tech tips

Pics and details of the conversion would be great.
