anyone wanna do australia??

My girlfriend and I are leaving newcastle on 22/11/03 to head north for four weeks, this is my first decent trip away in my hilux apart from local 4wding. I understand that most roads are sealed and that they will take us a fair way up, however i am a bit hesitant to take to the beaten isolated tracks without other 4wd's in convoy. Being the wet season I am afraid that I will miss out on a lot of great destinations because of my fears. I am sure that there are other people who would feel uncomfortable in this situation and are travelling at the same time. If anyone would like to join in on any part of the trip it would much appreciated, and I feel that it would help with recovery from bogs and company. please reply if you are interested. :'(

22/11?? or 22/12?? I can't go anywhere really.... but if yer in the Scone area........ i know a few nice tracks up at Barrington Tops.... could be fun for the day. Goin to check out a few more with maps this weekend ;D

I apoligize, its 22/12/2003, too much organizing at the mo to think. If you would like to get out one weekend though sounds good. I am always keen to find a new track and see some scenery, my family used to do a lot of 4wdriving but i am fairly new to the drivers seat, about four months actually.

i have had only about 3 or 4 months myself in my current vehicle, like i said previously, most of my experience has been in fire trucks which is a totally different kettle of fish when off road. You're only 2 hours drive from here..... if ya ever want to hit the tops for the day, email me and we will try to work something out :)

How far north are you coming? I live in Cairns and can give you a few ideas on where to go, some not far off the beaten track so you can still be within reach of civilisation if needed. Lemme know.

Thanks lug, cairns is actually about as far as were planning on coming up, then across to kakadu(if possible) then down to alice. I'm more calling to join in with anyone who is also doing a trip about the same time. however as we will be going to cairns anyway, why not make a day of it?? If u wanna go and have a day trip why not?? ;D
