I think the state based groups are great for sharing local info and meeting other 4WDers without the structures associated with Clubs.

I'm not knocking Clubs though. I'm the Prez of our local club.

Main advantages of clubs are training & reminding people of the "Tread Lightly" principle.
Also gives access to places like Menai when you are a member of an affilliated club ;D
