very nice mate,
I was ganna get Airbags in mine but was told there was a very big risk of getting a whole in them if i use them in the bush,
Becasue of all the sticks and stuff tht fly up,
Touring is fine, but they were very stonge about me not getting them if i was ganna go Bush bashing as they put it,

I run full air with Firestone bags in the rear of one of the patrols. Had a TREE driven from the front over the middle cross-member, into the air bag, of the drivers side of the vehicle and back between the LR fuel tank and chassis rail. I say tree 'cos it was thicker than my wrist, and jammed so tight that I had to cut it into pieces under the car to get it out! Driven in so hard that it compressed into the gap between the chassis rail and the fuel tank, reducing the diameter by about 1/3!!
DIDN'T DAMAGE THE AIR BAG!!!
Hit it square on, and deflected to the other side of the vehicle and then on back!! With all the real OFF-ROAD I have done, the bags have been exposed to more than most will ever get to see, and the only damage was caused by leaving little stones and mud jammed into the gap between the piston and the bottom of the bag.
If they can take that sort of damage, I'm pretty sure that anything you can throw at them Stevencc182 will probably not do too much damage. Has anyone out there actually had one punctured?? I would guess very few, and those in extraordinary circumstances!!
Try them, you'll love them!!! By the way, thats the Airbagman Firestone bags, like they run on trucks, not Poly-airs or Coil-rites!
Bout time you got those lockers off the workshop floor. ;D
So now when are we gona see some pics off it in action???????????? ;)

great job mate, you have been busy ;D
Looks good mate
Why do ARB recommend changing to free wheel hubs :-\
LN111
01-02-2006, 07:49 AM
ARB recommend this because the diferential gears in the air locker will be turning all the time when the front diff is disengauged ( Auto Disconecting Differential ) Push button 4WD type and the must wear out faster ???? plus it is a good idea anyway because it will reduce you fuel bill due to less moving parts during 2WD operation ::)
just means you have to get out and lock the hubs in just think of the exercise ;D

I will take some pics of the compressor setup and post soon :D
all i did was mount the copressor onto the guard and the air tank to the other used a air pressure cut off switch to control the air compressor and it and is only able to work when the ignition is on because i used a relay to activate it. ;D

I like the roof vent idea - My canopy sucks tons of dust in.
Does they work OK, and where do you get them from?
LN111
30-03-2006, 07:50 AM
The vents work very well because the create high air pressure in the canopy when coasting and i brought these from flexiglass in melbourne for $50 bucks each and i would recommend them to every one ;D
