Now I don't profess to be an expert off road driver, as a matter of fact I could probably count on two hands the amount of times if gone into what you might call rough stuff. Basically the Vitara is my first fourby and so far any off road driving skills have been self taught and the stuff you read in magazines (I have found out on more than one occasion it is a lot different in theory than in practice). So can anyone tell me if there are any good four wheel drive instructor courses I can do. I am even willing to travel To Brisbane if that is what it takes. I don't want to end up seriously damaging the pride and joy, or worse because of a lack of driving skills. :)

Join a club to get the basics.
Then the rest will come from experience.

As for "Professional Instructors", I have heard of them, but personally I cannot see the point in paying them heaps to teach you what experienced clubbies can teach you for the cost of membership.

most clubs run driver training days every month or so...
our's does out at menai.. ;D

like BT said you pay for your membership and that's that..
whereas if you hire someone to teach you it'll probably end up costing you a small fortune..

That alone sounds like a good reason to join your club Lachie.
Menai has some great areas to play & you can do it while "training" ;D

Visitors are always welcome to the club meetings.we have speakers from all different companies / affiliations etc. that pop in from time to time.. it's a good club.. they organise trips away every month too.. well worth the sign up fees... plus we're only at Five Dock.. Not that far from Gosford.. ;D ;D ;D

zook37... how far from Bris-Vegas are you??? and in what direction??
If on the south side, Gold Coast 4 wheel drive club meets first Tuesday every month at Nerang Bi-Centennial Hall, all are welcome and they have a very good club awareness program!
