I have a 105 petrol Cruiser (1FZ-FE solid axles). It's a 2000 model.

I live in South Africa and use it for safari into the wilds of the African bush. It has plenty of accessories fitted and currently I use a roof top tent. This has some disadvantages.

I'm ruminating upon a pop top Camper conversions something like this...
http://www.innovation-campers.com/toyota/images/055.jpg
This from a German company by the name of 'Innovation Campers'; doubtless in the best Teutonic tradition it is superbly engineered, but with no sense of humour (like an ex Bavarian girlfriend of mine...but I digress). I'm also interested in what the Antipodeans do in this field and companies that do this but I cant find anything on Google I'm sure they are out there...

1) Does anyone have any links of Australian outfits that do these conversions or pics of conversions?

2) Anyone have any views on this sort of thing, good bad, indifferent....issues?

Ta in anticipation

The vehicle looks like you can move around inside the whole cab into camper. This would be a huge undertaking to pass machinery let alone build it. Could be a good idea though!!
I can't think of any company doing this type of conversion.

You're in Sth Africa and you want to build/buy a partially canvas/material camper on a 4wd.
I would suggest a large CARNIVOR will be RUMINATING on your sorry backside should you decide to go ahead with this venture.
When you get eaten can I have all your good stuff, including the damaged, blood spattered camper. There aint no large carnivors in these ANTIPODIES.

That would be the first I have ever seen like this I have seen roof mounted Camper's on Troop carrier Tojo's, but never on a station wagon. The go in Oz is to use that area for a roof rack because of the extra storage we need, for tyres, water, swags and spare parts. The roof rack is also a good place to sleep away from the Crocs and Mossies(the mossies love it when you sleep amongst them in the grass they get a good old feed).
Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for.

Greetings from Aus,
I'm South African too, living in Adelaide South Aus.
Can't help you, but I've got a similar 100 series with 2 Echo 4x4 rooftop tents. I had to build my own roof rack to take the 2.4m+ tents.
