Hello do'se any know if a GQ fly wheel and clutch fit into a Gu 2.8TD, as the damper in the flywheel of the GU is stuffing up at 151,000 kms at a nice cost or has any one else had these problems ???

I have the GU 2.8 and was looking to see if a GQ fly wheel and clutch will fit in to a GU to get away from the damper type flywheel the GU's have or is there another way to go as the fly wheel for the GU is $2000 not good for only doing 151,000 kms

I am not too sure.
I would normally say I think so, but as you said, there are a few small differences to look at.

The best guy I can think of to talk to about Patrols I Nick Mannell if you are in the Sydney area.
He has owned a few & has done heaps of mods.
His workshop number is;

They did have a GU 2.8 in the series 1.
I have had a look at heaps of them in car yards up my way out of curiosity on the intercooler as I am putting one in the cruiser soon.

well....I guess they would make the 3.0 appear better... till warranty was needed ;)

Hi,

Apparently there was an update,
I was talking to my brother tonight, and he had the flywheel and ECU
upgraded under warranty.
The complaint he had was that at low RPM (1100 - 1200) there was a
distinct miss in the engine.
Nissan said it was rare for a customer to pick it up?

Subsequently they replaced the flywheel and ECU according to some
bulletin.

One of his friend also had the flywheel fail, and the cost out of
warranty was such that, they traded it for a Navara Duel Cab.

Cheers,

Stefan.

This was from patrol list.....

hi dave I work for a brake and clutch specialist in Brisbane and we deal with a clutch company called "Daiken" you may have heard of their Safari Tuff clutches, you may want to speak with them as they put out a complete kit to replace the flywheel and clutch on the GU's, this is a straightforward job which any workshop should be capable of, the only part reused off your flywheel is the ring gear.
Cheers Andrew
