Default Electric fans on a 4.2 td

Can anyone point me in the right direction of fitted electric fans to my Cruiser. At the moment the s**tbox clutch fan constantly stays on and I was trying to find out whether it would be worth my while throwing a coupe elec fans on.

Would this help my fuel consumption? Power output? Stuff like that. Oopen to any suggestions.

Cheers, JUG80S

A mate did this sort of work to his GQ. He put a second altenator on so lost the engine fan. He had a tonne of trouble keeping it cool. He ended up with 2 x 12" fans on the back of the radiator, with a steel cowling (custom of course). And a 16" fan on the front. Hard to control the temp and without the cowling the fans are useless.

It's doable, but a pain. I don't think you can beat the factory fan for sheer volume when it's working properly.

Have a look at the LCOOL forum. You'll need to sign up, but it's full of tech heads who have nutted out the problems with the factory fans. Could be a matter of too much fluid in yours, or maybe it's not set up right.... yes, you can adjust the temp settings on the fans.

Paul has done a good write up on this...

Agree with cranky, electric fans are for petrols, they are never enough to cool a diesel.
