Default 60 Series - Jack location the same?

Hi folks, I just bought a water bladder for the rear quarter panel in my FJ62. I had thought that since the jack, tool kit and water bottle is in the passenger side, they must install in the drivers side and accomodate the fuel filler. Once I got home and read the instructions I was dismayed to discover it is designed to go in the passengers side. There is no mention of the removal of the jack, tool kit or water bottle or various supporting hardware. On their web site, again no mention. The pictures included show the same body structure as mine with the vertical supports for the panel that removes to expose the innards so.... My question is, is the Jack, tool bag & water bottle all located in the passengers rear quarter panel in all models, or just my 62? Since I have bought it now I think I will go ahead but annoyed that the cutting involved had not been mentioned by the manufacturer. The washer bottle is a soft bag and can stay there I think, the jack and tools I am not too worried about since they are impossible to get to with a loaded truck anyway but I hate being given a bum steer esp since I would have had second thoughts about buying it if I knew. I will be writing them a letter that is for sure!

Mines a "G" Pack and like blue 60 said, mine has always been located below the passanger seat. Maybe in the standard trim they put them in the rear quarter panel?

I have a 1987 poverty pack and the jack and tools are in the left hand (passengers) side quater pannel

is there any reason that the blader won't fit in the drivers side
i was thinking about buying one my self

and your right its the worst position to have the jack and tools, i would like to put them in the rear door (barn doors) but i worry about putting all that weight in the door. if you have a tailgate you could think about making something like this
Tailgate Storage Box - IH8MUD Forums
Home
and just store it in there

let us all know when you find a solution

Ok, seems their location is all over the place. Mine is a GXL FJ62. The bladder can't go into the driverside simply because it is shaped to fit in the passengers side. I had a look this morning and the jack mount at least is a bolt in so hopefully I won't need to do any cutting.

I will drop the manufacture a line to tell them. They should have a note in their price list etc that 1. it goes in the passengers side and 2. some models require jack and tool bag removal.

I thought about making a door like the one in the link above in the drivers side panel but there is still the issue of getting to it with a fully loaded truck. Might just try and put it in the tool box which is always accessable as it has spares and recovery gear.

Thanks for the help guys.

Why not put your jack under the front passenger seat like mine? Never seen a 60 with the jack & stuff anywhere else before.

IIRC, the jack and handles changed locations from under the front passenger seat to the l/h/r quarter in mid 85.
(along with the intro of the 3F and 12HT and other changes)

Well I had a look at installing the tank yesterday. There is no chance of it going in there! I have an 1989 FJ62 GXL and in that panel there are three relays, the washer bottle, jack, tool bag and a speaker. To relocated these things is one job but all the bracketry would need to be cut out and the cut ground smooth. I don't mind moving things around but I am not keen on permanently modifying things to that extent for 20L. The drivers side is clearer but the bag is 'handed' - that is needs to be mirror image to go in there. There is still the issue with the fuel condensate/breather, filler and speaker.

It's going back.

Thanks for the help guys

It was a Fexi-Tank, bought through ARB. ARB can only tell me what the manufacturer tells them so it's nothing to do with ARB. They were very apologetic and promptly without drama refunded my money.
