Default internal cage

hey guys i know this prolly has been covered b4

but i need some advice on cages. i have the drawings from CCDA but there is no mention of whether the cages are welded to chassis or bolted

any advice would be great.

It is been my experience that they are bolted. But on the contrary it is something that your not gona take out so why not put some spot welds aswell. Also why not make a latteral bar to go down the sides along the floor. A mate makes his this way. Then there is no chance in a roll over that it will poke through the floor.

Cage can be welded or bolted. Plate has to be 15000mm2 with minimum 100mm length per side. (In other words 99mm X 151mm is no good but 100mm X 150mm is fine. Also plate can take up 2 planes (100mm X 100mm plate on floor then 50mm X 100mm plate joined to other plate at 90 degrees.)
Thickness must be more than tube wall thickness. If bolted then minimum of 3 bolts (4 is recommended) to be used M8 grade 8.8. If welded then tube can not be welded directly to the floor it must be welded to the plates described above. CCDA should have all the rules on their site under downloads also CAMS have more detailed rules which is basically the same.

so CCDA are nationally recognised regualtions? so if i compete in QLD and its cleared, but if i go down to NSW will it still be fine?

any guys got any pics of their internal cage mounts?, that would be great.

You don't need adaptor plates. That's what gaffer tape was invented for.

have a look here at these, ccda uses the cams schedule j for tube and fixings sizes and where and how.CAMS Online Manual of Motor Sport
