Cool

It may not look ideal, but if the winch mount or fairlead mounting were to break it's not going to harm anyone. Might do some carnage to the front end though. But as stated, it's been tested without failing.

Good to see some thought and effort going into the install Paul. You could easily put a hook or bolt inside the alloy bar to hitch the winch hook onto when not in use so that it doesn't stick out.

An important factor here is the choice of winch. It is often better to go the moderate size winch, which as noted can still break a winch line. And of course it can be used with a pulley block to do a double line pull if necessary. A more powerful winch is usually achieved by using the same electric motor and gearing it down further, making it even slower. (and sometimes heavier)

Trick install mate, not sure if I'd go down that road though. I know if I ever have to use my winch I want it to be reliable and work from which ever direction its needed and not have to worry about tearing the front of my car apart

Looks like you got the updated Ironman winch. I got one last year and it's the older black winch with the far from waterproof solenoid box. I really like the look of your solenoid pack, wonder if they can be purchased seperately.
