Not allowed by law to body lift a vehicle with SRS. Thats why its crutial to choose a 4wd that can have the kinds of modifications you dream of before you spend your hard earned on it, to find you are limited to only spring lift. Which is fine except a lot more expensive in some cases

You dont need to put a lift kit on it! By law you cant put a body lift as has been explained because of the srs airbag. But P38s have air suspenssion any way. You can put bigger bags in it to gain extra height if you need to, but the length of travel is pretty good any way, it will go to 2 1/2 inches above standard road height. You can also put in a switch to raise the car past its high setting ( which normally only comes in when you bottom it out), if you know the relavent pins in the EAS computer, but if you do bottom the car out from that it will still try to go even further risking damaging the bags.
Changing the airbags to coils can be done but it is involved, as you need the to fool the car computer into thinking the air suspenssionis working fine other wise a fault will be registered and continuing beeping noise as well as beeing to told to slow to 55 klms. The only way I know of is to buy complete kits that has the relavent wiring plugs and jiggers to plug in. But if your looking at a P38 then leave the air bag system there its not as problumatic as many would have you believe. The main falt is if an air leak develops in which case the compressor will run continulaly until it fails. The other thing to concider is if a "hard fault"'is registered on the EAS system it need s to plugged in to a Rover com computer to be fault cleared other wise the car will not rise untill this is done. I do how ever have the relavent program on my PC but still yet to use it. You can also buy a small kit which is a set of valves,so you can pump up at a servo, to manually inflate the bags if the compressor fails, which by passes the valves in the EAS set up which will keep the car infalted as long as an air leek in the bags is not the sourse of the compressor failing.
P38s are extremely good off road and will easily out perform the older classic in standad form. I know I had a clssic as well, the only thing that is of concideration is the P38 has a longer wheel base (109 inches) as apoesed tot eh classics 100 inches, but it does have better approach and deperture angles.
Thats about as much as Know on it but some one else may be able to offer more, Hope that helps

Youll find it very difficult to get a bar for it. Ive sent an email to ARB to see if any ca be modified to suit. Re the snorkle You may find the ones for the Disco 3 will be the go. The problume with the P38 is the bonnet meets the front screen unlike the older classic so the when opening it will catch the snorkle, but the disco3 has the same action as the P38.
