I'm not a religious man, but there comes a time in every 4wdriver's life where they feel the need to get closer to god. For me, this time has come.

I'm thinking of (by means of Rubicon Express) stretching my 2003 TJ's wheelbase 4 inches and was wondering if anyone out there has done this and their feedback on results.

Also I'm tossing up between a 5.5" lifted longarm kit or a 7.5" longarm kit - Taller is generally thought of as better but I want to know from people that have done/seen them in action as to how they perform (specially in the comp scene).
The aim is to get as little of this  and as much of :truck:as possible!

All thoughts are appreciated.

Cheers,

what sort of tyre size are you going to run, 7.5 inches is a hell of alot of lift for a tj and i havent seen any rubicon kits that lift to that height.

If you do want to do a lift and a stretch chat to wooders hell set you straight maybe some mid length arms that mount to the stock bracket and moves the axle back a bit could be the go.

have a squiz on ausjeepoffroad it will be of much help to you compared to here were the answer will be buy a lux or a cruiser :)

If you want to do a decent stretch on a TJ, then have a look at the AEV website (American Expidition Vehicles, you cant get to it easily from Quadratec's site).
They have a "Brute Conversion" looks very cool and adds a ute tray as well, may not be what you are after but you can buy all the bits separately to suit what you want to do.

OK as a mod its not cool for me to flog our products - so any question on those please feel free to contact me offline ;)

We have done a few stretch setups now and obviously many Rubicon Express kits - so based on that here's my thoghts (leaving price & brand out of the discussion).
IMHO 7.5" is silly high and the stuff of just show....if you REALLY want it to work offroad (& on road)go for 4.5 or at the very max 5.5 (although I pesonally prefer the 4.5" height).
Even if I was building o 40" tyres (which I currntly am) I would not lift over 5.5"....(for the record my build plan is for only 1-2" Supension and no body lift).

If you are building for comps - you better say what sort because how we plan winch challenge rigs is very different fo something planned for TTC (for example).

No in terms of benefits - One of our customers (veteran of 5 outback challenges) that has a stretch it said the difference is: Before he stopped when he started to get incomfortable and now they stop when the vehicle does....That makes a BIG difference in comp use.....

Anyhow not sure if there are any actual questions in this thread - but happy to answer ;)
