I am looking to upgrade my suspension to a two inch lift but have heard horror stories about handling after the lift. I would love to hear from anyone who has done the lift themselves and if you had any problems with handling.

We lifted the XJ we had and it was a bit of a wanderer until I adjusted the bottom control arms and shimmed them out. Ours was a 96' limited. The adjusters were at the rear of the bush mount on the front rail.
Have a look at Marcus's site , search for the site in links i think.
watch for drive line vibration though, you might have to put a transfer lowering kit in as well.

do it properly with reputable parts and its no different to any other lifted vehicle, ignore the above suggestion of a transfer lowering kit do it properly with a sye and a new rear driveshaft.
call wooders and source your parts from there best prices and his advice is plentiful and free :)

I lifted my 96 XJ by 2" and it handled better than on the old sagging suspension. Definitely give Wooders a call, he'll set you straight.

2" wont be a problem at all, mine is around 4"-5" (Was in issue 108 if you want to see it) and was fine after fitting adjustable lower control arms to get the caster right and an adjustable panhard to get the wheels centered in the guards. Other than that nothing special is needed to sort out the handling. At 2" you'll get away without both of these but shimming the lower arms forward slightly will help with any caster issues you hit. I've done everything on my Jeep and the suspension is easy.
For the gear, call Wooders :)
Cheers

2" shouldn't be a problem at all in regards to vibes. Wouldn't need a SYE at 2" (in my opinion). Mine has Ironman leaves on the rear (and extended shackles), and spring spacers on the front and drives really well.

pk1 every jeep is different some will need a sye at 2 inches some wont my tj should have had one at 2 but is a nessecity at 4.5 :)
my advice was go the sye over the transfer case drop (no point lifting it if you are gonna loose any clearance you gain) if it is needed
agree - but usually SYE's are only required on TJ's over 2 inches as well - I had a 2 1/2 inch lift on mine and never fitted a SYE - higher than that definitely!
I also think that the longer driveshafts on the XJ mean that the vibes you get in a TJ don't usually happen in an XJ with a 2 lift. As I said, I have 2 and a bit on my XJ, haven't dropped the transfer case of fitted a SYE and all is good.
Just my 2 bob's worth, happy to be shot down in flames!!

I think all the above comments are valid, I did mine with King springs on the front from Poly 4x4, and the rears reset. I had to put longer shockers ( got them from Ironman)
Have a look at markus's site www.gojeep.com.au (http://www.gojeep.com.au) for an XJ lover , you will get heaps of info and tips.

When ARB do a 2 inch OME lift, they throw a anti-vibration kit in for the rear tailshaft. That going to stop it?

never heard of an anti-vibe kit on a tailshaft? what is it - more info please? only thing i can think is the SYE and CV driveshaft which usually isnt a standard option on any kit esp at 2".

ARB do a space kit to drop the t-case/gearbox crossmember. I'm guessing that's what it is.
Cheers
