View Full Version : Triton Suspension Lift
Was in Perth over the last couple of weeks and had a chat to a couple of 4wd mobs. one being the 4wd megastore.
They informed me that due to the front end of the my forby (2002 MK Triton) the biggest lift I could get out of tough dog suspension would be 40mm.
The ute has coils and torsion bars at the front a leafs at the rear.
If this is true what they say, Im assuming it would be possible to use spacers for a bigger lift on the front? If so, what do I need to be able to get a bigger lift out of the leafs?

not sure bout spacers as you like myself have torsion bars at front, the only way to lift these is to wind them up after replacing with heavy duty bars, the rears are easy, just get a set of heavy duty ome springs and bushes

If your torsion bars are still good, keep em. You are not going to get any extra lift height by replacing them... ( because you bump stops are still going to be in the same position,)
I kept my original bars and just wound them up, got the 40mm I was after.
Due to the fact that i am not carrying extra weight in the front, ie winch or big bull bar.. Heavy duty bars would have just made the ride worse.
As for the back, new springs to match the front or get your old ones reset to suit the height in the front... New shocks all round and your away..
Cheers

agreed there JLD coastals are the guys to see
triton has torsion bars only in the front and leaf rear, the only way to gain extra lift (i.e. height between wheel and guard) is to wind up the torsion bars you can get pretty much 2 in (50mm) out of the original torsion bars BUT in doing so you eliminate the downward travel of your wheel
when winding up torsion bars you need to watch the distance between your upper and lower bump stops you need distance between these otherwise your vehicle will drive like a POS!
of course leaf springs in the rear are easy you can get lifted leaves, extended shackles but seriously you don't wanna really go huge in the tritons suspoension wise because you will start putting a lot of pressure on your CV's
a lot of people disregard the option of a body lift but in hindsight the bodylift if done properly is a cheap alternative to fit bigger rubber thus raising your height of the diff
with tritons (MK) if you want 33's which don't rub go 2in body lift and wind up your torsion bars or a 2in suspension lift - exact same deal with the challengers see my mate Mrbishi Jon has a challenger running 33's
thanks for the info will give costal a call.
