has anyone put a webbar on a 2.6 how did go ? is it common ?

I used to do it for a living (lots of them) back in the 80's and early 90's and yes
VERY worth while as long as they're tuned properly.

I helped someone do it once and it was a decent improvement once jetted right. This was on a 2wd though, you might need to do a few mods to the weber to get around flooding/fuel starvation issues on big angles.
We used a 32/36 weber from a 2 litre cortina, although if I did it again i'd try one a bit bigger like off an XE/XF falcon. Only annoying thing i've found is all the falcon ones i've looked at have had no idle mixture adjustment

so 32/36 isthe go, or is there a manifold that i can get to put an 45 on ? or is it just an adappter from original manifold to webar

No the 32/36 Dvg is not the one to use as they are not so good on hills and bouncing
around off road.
The webers off the xe / xf fords are the way to go as they will still idle in just about any position you get into even on steep hills.
It will need to be rejetted for the 2.6 though.
Contrary to what jg1982 said every weber I have ever worked on has an idle mixture
screw and interchangeable idle jets so it's important to get someone who knows
what they are doing or you can waste time and money
Hope this helps bms

I'll have a better look at a couple of xe/xf carbs next time i'm at the wreckers :o
4runner4, the bolt pattern should be the same between a 32/36 and the falcon webers. I'm pretty sure we needed an adaptor plate for the 2.6 mitsi but it was a long time ago. I think the falcon carb is called a 34 dcd or something like that?

Josh, , Clint has the 32/36 and his a pig on the hills but as said above the xe/xf ones are much better. there is just an adapter plate for them.... dont turn the std carby up or it will never work prop again, ill ask my mates wrecker he will prob have a plate he will off load if you want.. let me know.
more info thinking about it the i just spoke to a mate of mine who a carby bloke ( he did clints) he also thinks the cortina webber is the way to go but wont make a duge difference on its own.. adapter plate new is about $35......on the sig motor you can for stuff all drop a better cam ( not too lumpy though) in because its o/h its a 1hr job that with a webber would then go sweet...
BTW
a points dizzy is about $30 and a piece of piss to drop in. you may get a slightly stronger spark with what youve go but its not as opposed to other elec igniotion the transistor box on yours will allways let you down with points wd40 and your rolling

yeah mine is a 32/36 off a cortina and it's no good for a 4x4. im going a worked 3ymechanical carb next. then over the break period(between comps will try and put fuel injection on it. screw the carbies, lol

the mikuni (sigma ) carb is shit on a good day and from memory there stuff all you can do with them the aisan from memory on the lux can be set up better suited to 4wd..
IMO the webber 32/36 (tina carb) running with its uphill issues would still be a better one the the mikuni with more grunt.

hey fellas this threads a great read-
got me intersted- ive got a mate with an xf (soon to have a carby aqquired off it :D :D)
i just have a few questions-
1-what would be the best carb (easy and cheap) to replace the minuki one that would still be good on the 4wd stuff
2- how would i figure out all the vacum lines (i seem to have millions)
3- how much fuel economy would i lose (heaps-> sfa)
cheers

Hi MadPaj the xf weber IS the way to go.
When you get it carefully strip it down and buy a full recon kit for it from
Repco or similar and rebuild it.
You will need an adaptor plate for it and I'm pretty sure the plate for the
32/36 dgv is the same and it is HIGHLY recommended to run a full flow air
cleaner with it. I used finer filters
If you get this far give me a post or pm and I think I might still have
all the jet sizes written down for the 2.6 in my shed.
On the economy side of things that will improve considerably if it's jetted
properly and a very worthwhile increase in power and torque.
It's been a long time since I've done one but I think the RWHP went from
approx 65 to aprox 90/95 on the dyno with the xe/xf weber, extractors
and 2.5 inch exhaust and advancing the timing a little.
Hope this is of some help bms

awesome- thanks for the reply- just whati was looking for
-as for full flow air filter- would a k+n suffice if its still in the original air box? it just that ive got a snokle hooked onto it
-so will that adapter plate allow it to bolt straight onto the inlet manifold?
and those power increases sound sweet- ive allready got a full exhaust system and just had it rebuilt with no balance shafts and a bit more compression
