Finally! Picking up my new ML Triton today, whilst I am sure the saleman will tell me their recommended running-in procedure I'd be interested to hear what you guys have done? :truck:
It's been quite a few years between brand-new cars for me; then the procedure was to take it easy and vary the speeds in the first 1,500k's or so, not let it labour in gear etc.
Cheers
Andrew :D

if its a diesel you should put a trailer behind her with a bit of weight in her and then just drive normally, thats what i was told by my mitsi dealer anyway, don't sit at 1 speed or rpm for to long and don't labour the engine too much-plenty of things on here that should help you out mate

A wise (?) friend suggested I drive it like I stole it :drink:
Picked her up this evening and the dealer said no special treatment was required. I can do that :D

you could but you'd be better off bedding it in a bit first

yeah probably a good idea - I have nothing to lose by going easy for the first little while/1,000km (whichever comes first ;))

don't go to easy though, put some weight in the back or tow a trailer it will be a big bonus in the long term

I just drove mine . changed gears at about 2500rpm, stayed off cruise control until about 4000k. Around about the same time we took it out bush and gave her a bit of stick up some clay hills, cant say how many rpm then cause i was to busy, but i know she was working, love it

work em hard.. the honing in the bores is only there for a very short period of time so to get it to bed the rings in (which i beleive may be done in the factiory now anyway) you needs get on the gas alot and alot of compression braking
just dont rev her out too much (dont go past 4300 lol) so meh.. i guess we will find out oin 160000ks
