Sounds awfully much like that Centre Diff lock switch has had it and the Centre Diff is staying locked!! Do you have loss of power and a resistance to turning when this light is on and you are on firm surfaces?

BTW, I'd suggest strongly - no VERY STRONGLY not to drive it on bitumen until you've sorted this! If you try to turn left to right and back again a couple of times (just do it somewhere there is lots of soft surface nearby so that if you get trans wind-up you can relieve it quickly, damp grass is good, or firmish sand, gravel etc.) and the vehicle starts to 'bog down' and lose power, starts to 'hunt' and surge thru the trans (yours manual or auto?) and resists turning or driving, getting to feel more and more like it's bogged or dying, then into the soft stuff and give it a bootfull to get some wheelspin and relieve the wind-up!!

Try stopping, putting the gearbox in neutral, then trying to de-select the CDLock switch (I assume yours is the illuminated switch, not a difrent position with the gear lever?) If it wont go off by selecting it in Neutral, try a bit of a (little) rev, then select a range first, (little) rev again, then gear (little) squirt of rev on take-off, driving forwards in a straight line. No light out, stop and reverse over the same wheel tracks you drove forewards on. Make sure that you drive forewards and back at least 20 feet (6 metres +) and do that about 10 times, STOPPING before changing direction!!

If you can, run thru the gears, ie select LOW range CDLock, Neutral and rev it a little, then High range CDLock, High Range, then 2WD. Physically try to drive at least 20 feet in each of those ranges/selections, then back up again. Still no joy, ask yourself is this likely to be because the trans-case is hot (or at least a lot warm)?? If so, let it cool then try again! No joy, leave it overnight and go thru the whole thing again!!

Auto boxes have been known to jam in No Drive cons of overheated transmission fluid, but that's generally been associated with driving on soft surfaces WITHOUT the Centre Diff locked! Can't see too many that were'nt/didn't need centre diff lock causing it to jam ON!! If all else fails, you could try to rock it back and forth as savagely as you can using people power, but don't use two cars to try and pull it apart, it can work!! (pulling it apart that is!) Or get it jammed up, stick a trolley jack or 2 underneath (Make sure that the Jacks are facing into the potential direction of travel, and that they CAN travel if needed!) and lift one side clear of the ground, then REV the engine IN gear gently. See if that can release it!

The only other thing is to try and disable the electrics and stop it switching on (or off) whichever the case may be. Then talk to Bitsamissing ASAP, or maybe do that NOW, especially if it is all under warranty!

Enjoy, and tell us what happens!!

BTW, this might be better in the Mitsubishi Tech area, rather than here in General!
