Has anyone got any info to share ?
Last thing I heard is the (CR) D-Tronic was still months away.
There may be other options out there worth considering though. Anyone taken the plunge, or about to?
DPchip?
Josh.
UPDATE:
bugger it.
I'm driving to Berrima now, should have the DP chip installed by this evening, will report.

sweet
i so wanna know how this goes.. dyno graphs before and after pretty please???
also.. if mitsubishi can reflash our ECU (as in the 15000k service) this would mean how long before the aftermarket can do it?? the rom must be a flash chip for mitsi to be able to do it.. and if they can.. we can.. does anyone know of anyone who can dyno tune a CR diesel?
mitsi jordan gives a power upgrade option to 420NM from factory

The curse of the early adopter.
No exciting news Tri unfortunately..
Got to Berrima had the chip fitted, no difference.
tried another chip, no difference.
Turns out the chip's "load point" had been set way too high and was having no effect at all until over 3,000 rpm !
It can be fixed with an adjustment in software, but the Chief at Berrima is away 4WD'ing for two weeks.
I've still got it in the car with a promise of a fix by Monday. However, in the car on the way home I decided to take it back for a full refund (which I was told is no problem, especially under the circumstances) on Monday.
FWIW: The folks at Berrima were a pleasure to deal with and were very concerned the unit didn't work as advertised..
Lovely people and a nice set-up there.
A real shame.
Not sure what will end up in the truck now. Maybe nothing. It's only another 500 or so to get my Black Widow storage..
*sigh*
I should have known...

Sorry to hear about the chip... Aftermarket seems very limited at the moment.
Let me know if you need any info or have any questions with Black Widow. IŽll be there on Tuesday for a meeting with Bruce and IŽll be showing them my Triton too.

Is the Ralliart powerpack available in Australia and has anyone experience with it? It is available in Europe for about US$800. It will not void warranty!
Since the powerpack is to be connected to the motor management system as well Mits is yet to confirm if I can use it in the Middle East.
Seems the safest option so far.

Henk, do you have more info on the Ralliart powerpack? Search as I might I can't find any links to it.
I've been following the Tuning Chips (http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/f10/tuning-chips-dpchip-dtronic-tunit-rapid-steinbauer-more-26223/) thread, but so far nothing jumps out at me :(
I wonder, Josh if the Berrima folks have been successful with a Triton by now - I might call them and see :)
Cheers
I was told that the D Tronic goes in before the computer so alters the signal
going to the ecu so the ecu records a fault code so no warranty.
Apparently the DP Chip goes after the computer so isn't meant to leave any
codes when removed so can anyone shed any light on this ?

Henk, do you have more info on the Ralliart powerpack?
Officially called: Rallitronic Power Pack upgrade. Will increase power from 100kW to 123kW and torque from 314Nm/2000 to 402Nm/2000 (quoted from L200 brochure).
I do not have an item#. Found it somewhere, but got lost. Price around 800 euros. Not cheap, but it does not affect the warranty.
I have asked Mits if I can fit it in the Middle East, but they are not sure if it is compatible with the motor management software that is ued there. They are testing it for me (hopefully). I can't imagine that the motor software has huge differences. Comments on that?
You can order it seperate in Europe and comes standard with the L200 inhighest spec.
Note: not sure if you can use it for the 3.2ltr!!

Thanks! Finally found some info - seems the Rallitronic is only for the 2.5 DiD :(

I just got an email from Safari, and the Dtronic for the ML DiD is hoped to be released by the end of October :thumb:
I'll be leaning towards this one (price depending of course) as I've had great results and convidence in my Unichip (in a Forester) which is made by the same manufacturer as the Dtronic (Dastek) and is of a similar (piggyback ECU) principle.
I'd be hoping for similar increases to the DiD Pajero Dtronic/Powerplug, which is around 139 kW and 430 Nm...
Cheers

I'll admit, I'm pretty basic when it comes to under the bonet stuff, but I'm learning. It is a bit of a brain overload but I think Tritor in one of the other posts has said that he's impressed with the Steinbauer unit. I'll get mine fitted on Friday week and tell ya the difference after that weekend.

There are probably a few around for the DiD and I am not saying that the Steinbauer unit is state of the art either as there has been some stories floating around about ease of installation and module size, but when the company is dedicated to this area of the industry and has been surviving and growing for years, you can't help but think their stuff has to work and work well if it is going to survive the competition !
That doesn't mean I wouldn't research other companies to find out their story because I would and I aslo thing there is great merit in ecu re-programming and or a re-programmable ecu installation. To me this is the most logical improvement to any electronically controlled engine management system one can do but requires a dedicated and skilled person to do it properly ...................oh and yes there would be obvious point blank warranty issues :D

Been having second thoughts about the Stienbauer unit. Going to get her offroad over a couple of weekends to suss out the output of the standard donk then make a decision.
I'm also thinking that it might be in my better interest to get a set of Outback drawers before the Stienbauer.

If you're like me, you'll be more than satisfied with the standard power for day-to-day running around (even with the bigger tyres!) :thumb:
It's only when I hook on the boat and chuck in a bit of camping gear that I look for more, and at the moment for me it's not really worth spending upwards of $1K for those few weeks & weekends a year ;)

Yeah, I'm going to hold out and get those drawers. Going to need them more than extra grunt for now.

Personally, even with the larger tyres & extra weight that my ML is running, I'm stoked with how it gets up & goes. Yeah, I know, theres no such thing as 'too much power', but where do ya draw the line..........??
Whenever I want a reality check on just how good it goes - I've got a non-turbo 2.8 4Runner, that brings me back to earth with a heavy thud, everytime I drive it. (Which thankfully, is'nt very often..........!!). Also have a 3ltre non-turbo Hilux double-cab, that in comparison with the Triton, would'nt pull Grandma off Grandad if it had a tail-wind...............(To be fair, its also dragging around extra weight - has front & rear mounted winches for a start.........)
Cheers.

Wouldn't pull grandma off granddad hey !!!!!!
These things that make ya go mMm, are all good if ya got the money. If ya going to be towing a fair bit or lugging ya 'tradie' trailer around everywhere, the power up chips are a bargain when you compare them to the likes of a better exhaust or something like that.
I am getting one in the next few months, just so long as no nasty bills turn up a bite me wallet !! :D
Cheers............. :thumb:
