PAJERO 97. need smash repair and diagnostic advice

hi. my mate recent drove his 97 pajero into a ditch he smashed his front right panel bent a bit of the door and there is a mysteriouse substance leaking in the Vicinity of the c.v. joint. we have looked underneath and havent found any visibile holes or patches of oil (other than the 50 or so that are considered normal on pajeros) the car went into a ditch at about 45km an hr (he was fidling witht he radio) ditch was approxamitly 70cm deep. his steering is now also shuddering violently after the 50km mark.
does anyone have any advice as to what he needs to do about the panel (i have attached a photo) panel beaters? or simply get a new panel? also does anyone have any idea what the liquid might be it is a clear thick liquid.
