hi all just wondering if anyone knows if the bullbars between a nissan patrol gu and a nissan navara around d22 or newer are the same..im looking at buying a nissan navara bullbar to fit on the gu if they are the same as navara bars are cheap as.
they look to be the same to me, maybe slightly different mounts, but also when i wanted to do the navara cab swap onto the gu chassis they were very similar between models..
so does anyone know?
cheers mark.

There are a few fairly significant differences between the two vehicles, not the least being about a 200mm width variance! Basically the short answer to your wondering "is the Navara Bull bar and the GU bull bar the same?" NO! is probably as short as you are gonna get!
And if you thought that buying a cheaper Navara Bull bar to fit the GU, one of the major reasons for the Navara bar being cheaper is that there is a fairly significant amount LESS steel involved in the construction, so the materials cost is less by almost (and I'm guessing here) about 2/3rds of a square metre!
And re the possibility of doing a Navara cab swap onto a GU chassis, yes, I believe that it would be possible, just like the Hilux swap onto a Hunjy chassis is possible! Not cheap or easy or quick or often thought of as a viable solution to anything, unless maybe you had a Navara cab given to you and you already had a spare GU or GQ chassis out the back that was still straight with running gear that worked and you could match the two up and make a single going concern fairly easily...... Nope, that didn't work either! I had the offer of a Navara cab and the GQ chassis was already there and I looked at it seriously for a minute or two; but it was all gonna be too hard and too difficult to get it all OK'd and the cost was growing with every bit I looked at! I would've even had to modify a GQ or GU Bull bar to match the wider GQ chassis mounts and the narrower Navara body work too; just not worth it!
