Old Pathfinder

My mate has anold path finder, somewhere around the late 80's, early 90's i think and his gear box has shat itself. Does anyone know of a good mechanic around the Melbourne area for something like this?

its a 1990 Pathfinder with a 2.4 lrt Petrol 5 speed, and the problem with it is, there's no 5th gear, it goes into position but when its in there its the same as if the car is in neutral, and 2nd gear wines really bad when i put it in, so i havent been using that, and reverse you need to play arround wuth a but b4 it will go in, and all this seemed to happen at the same time
