Just check the switch on your t/case, my Dook did the same thing with the 4X4 light and I found the switch was stuck in so I just disconneted it and no more dramas!!!! You would know if the central diff lock was still engaged as you would have transmission wind up!!!!:thumb:

When you engage the diff lock you shouls hear the vaccum actuator engage and it takes a bit if time for it to lock up. Does the light work, the light will only come on once enagaged.

Your actuator sometimes will pay up if not used for long periods. If all else fails, you may be up for a new one (about $70-80 new I think).

Thats no good Tim.Id check the switch you can pull them apart and have a suss, then if all is ok remove the actuator from the transfer case and check that,i know theres a seal in there if its rooted it will seap oil into the diaphram.Mine had this prob and wouldnt disengage properly.

Had to drive mine home about 40k's on tar. Kept banging about every 50 meters. Drove most of the way with left side wheels off side of road. No way you could not notice if it was engaged. They say about 80% of classics center diff locks don't work. I'm on my third rangie and haven't bought one yet that works. Why they don't come with linkage amazes me. But love them anyway

Later LT230's in the 5 speeds and autos are all linkage set-ups. You just have to push/pull the leaver left or right to lock and unlock respectuivley even if the light doesn't work (helps you remember though  )
