A diff lock is a diff lock, once it's locked that's it.

I'm not that technical as my Triton is the first 4wd I have owned, but the Diff lock works great on mine.
I have also been told you could spend around $2,500 on an aftermarket diff lock but if you go the factory option its only $500 !!!!

Yes I did. Worked perfectly for the first 3-4 months then the phone started to drop out and reconnect to the bluetooth every minute or so (very annoying!). I just had the bluetooth reciever (?) replaced under warranty and all is back to normal.

Factory diff lock with a 10 yr warranty for $500 ?
And you're wondering if it's a good idea or not?
err...
I LOVE mine. Best $500 I've probably ever spent on anything automotive-related.
Huge value.

My bluetooth is starting to shit itself, keeps disconnecting and reconnecting by itself, it's a pain in the arse, I thought it was my shit phone...
Not good considering my Triton i only 2 weeks old and has only done 2500kms....
Oh well, warranty job.

I'm not saying that the factory diff lock is bad, It's just my first 4wd and wanting to know if there is any different between the two, as for the blue tooth it's getting change over next week, 3 a charm I hope

blue tooth worked flawlessly with my motorola for 6 months.. its a little slow to connect tomy new nokia but other than that.. im on its for about 50 phone calls a day.. i love it and couldnt live without it.. its a very expensive peice of kit.. google bluetooth parrot.. its just an integrated version of that
as for the locker.. the reason its so cheap is that you are getting credit for an LSD diff center.. if you buy aftermarket you have to buy the LSD with the car.. then toss it and get a locker.. noone buys the lsd back
and yeah.. 10 year/ 160000k warranty on a diff lock?? better than arb and if the locker smashes and ruins the rest of ya diff, mitsi would have to replace the whole diff.. unlike arb who will only replace ya locka

Bluetooth is great it just give's me the shits when it packs it up, I get so use to using it with the voice reg on my phone and when it dies I fumble around with the phone like I just got it or something

As for factory fitted Diff Lock I'M NOT KNOCKING IT, it's got me out of mud half a dozen times already, on the price front you can't go wrong (got mine for free) and the warranty there as back up aswell

Blue tooth connects when it feels like it, sometimes straight away sometimes after a couple of minutes sometimes never. I already have a ML and was given no indication that it could not have the diff lock retro fitted as an accessory ( even though i spoke about it, went for the Cruise control, canopy and roof rack instead), i am now being told it can only be supplied before delivery for $500.00, not now that ive brought the bugger. But i still thinks its a top unit

And the LSD is great too so far ;)
Make the call based on how much hard off roading you'll do in it. Whether its a good thing or not- I haven't needed it in 16k kms but then I haven't done much wheeling.

If any one wants a Factory style loccker then it can cost up to 4 grand as you have to buy the dif and all piping solenoids etc, wish I'd optioned it at factory.
I did factory option the Canopy and tub liner looks good.
Also watch the rear spring mine went soft after about 900k's with an 850kg trailer and 350kg in the tub.
Had them replaced and they seem ok now

What sort of ball-weight would that trailer be creating, andy? ie. is it reasonably balanced, or particularly front heavy? Did the rear start sagging without the load, or was there a decrease in handling stability?
Just wondering because I have a 6m boat & trailer so will see a bit of towbar use when the weather starts to heat up
Cheers

I have not done the diff locks yet, and as to the springs Mitsi replaced under warranty, but I am looking at putting a set of bellows under, I threw the original Shockers away and replaced with OME Nitro's.

The ball weight was about 100kg and the trailer is a 7x4 trailer tent so the weight is well spread andd I can lift the ball end by myself, after the springs were changed I had no problems (I was in Darwin with the problem and had to get back to the Hunter Valley). The springs do sit flat but they are reactive so they work well.

Yeah I found this with my MK triton have to turn it off to get the light to go off.
But the 4x4 wheels on dash go away after shifting into 4x4
Cheers Dion
