Fastest Production 4WD Ever Built?
When Jeep proclaim the world’s fastest production 4WD, the Jeep Chrysler SRT8, who do you think they got to test-drive it? Roothy? Graham? Not far off. How about Ferrari F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa?
You know you’ve got a fast truck on your hands when you hire two blokes that spend a living enduring 4Gs in high-speed F1 cars to do the test-driving.
The new Jeep Cherokee SRT8 is most likely reserved for those with deep pockets and have a thirst for the high life. But that’s not going to stop us imagining what it would be like flexed up on a rock ledge or busting through the mud.
The SRT8 is decked out with 6.4L Hemi V8 that produces 344kW of power and 624Nm of torque. Chrysler/Jeep proclaim that it has the ability to do 0–100km/h in five seconds. But rest assured the only way we’ll be able to get behind the wheel of one of these is if we win Lotto next Tuesday.
Just to add insult to injury, the Cherokee SRT8 has a max speed of 257km/h and has the braking power of 100–0km/h in 35m.
Prices – let’s be honest, they’re out of our range, but you can bet your bottom dollar Alonso and Massa never paid for theirs!
That you know of, is this the fastest production 4WD available?
